Sweater: noun, garments that children wear when their mothers are cold.
As I cower in fear of such temperatures (KY went down to 10 below once, I remember it was so cold I couldn't go outside without a scarf over my mouth and nose and my dad's beard froze) I notice that you are not wearing the coat. It reminds me of my mom's rule, "You can't complain/mention the cold unless your coat is zipped up, I don't care how uncool it is."

I thought once you got to that temperature you were in danger of exposed skin freezing? Too bloody cold for me.

Thank you, I think after looking at it once or twice it turned out pretty good. I must admit, that I was only in the elements for about 4 minutes, and between pics, I was wearing the jacket. If I had to remain in the elements dressed as I was, I would only remain comfortable for a minute or so, and be risking frostbite to my ears and any other exposed appendages within minutes.

You know what they say about where you can find sympathy....it's in the dictionary between sh_t and syphallis. (A dear friend of mine once told me that.) (Mods, please feel free to edit if you feel the need to do so, I have no intent of offending any one, totally tongue in cheek.)

Yeah, but it's a dry cold.
That was for the kilties in Arizona. I hated those t-shirts about it being a dry heat when I lived there.

Reminds me of the time when I got off the plane in Deadhorse and it was -40 with about a 25MPh wind and the pilot drained the oil to take inside so it would be pourable...and they put electric blankets over the wings.
By the by, my kids loved it in Fairbanks...cross country skiing, having the dogs pull them on sleds and skies and watching their Dad try to get the ice out of his beard.

You must be really hardy - quite a bit of exposed knee there.

OK, that's cold. The coldest I've ever been in was around 2 deg F, in Truckee and what struck me was that temperatures like that are dangerous. I've spent a lot of time in temperatures in the 20's and 30's and never felt like it was inherently dangerous. 2 degrees, though....that's different.
-30? I can't even imagine.
