I was lucky enough to obtain both a black and a brown one a while ago.
The black one I love and wear to death, but I was disappointed with the brown, although I wear it frequently. After a few weeks, I cut off the three brown tassels because I just did not like the very pale, contrasting reverse of the brown leather which was just too obvious in the tassels. Actually, I almost prefer the look of the sporran without them.
Additionally, just a week ago, the fitment on the back, which takes the sporran strap, almost ripped off without me doing anything to cause it. All but a couple of stitches came undone! Because of the lining inside the sporran, I am unable to re-sew this myself and will have to take it to a sadler to be done, which will be an expensive operation if I know anything about those chaps over here.
Oh well, they are great sporrans and are saving the wear-and-tear on the nylon original which Ron refers to. I guess I was just unlucky.
Take care,
Ham.
