Can we get a positive id on this tartan? I looked at several sources and was unable to find a match for either the Tyneside District or Tyneside Scottish Tartan.

That is one of the most stunning tartans I may have ever seen. So familiar, so different, so humbling in its history. Honor to the Tyneside.

A fine looking kilt. I'm currently reading the Soldiers Story which is made up from extracts from war diaries including some from the Tyneside Scottish. The first day of the Battle of the Somme was the worst day in British Military history with nearly 60,000 casualties on the first day alone. I think that continuing to wear the tartan is a fine tribute to those brave men.

Nice story, but some albeit not all 100% correct. The tartan you have there is NOT the Sandbag tartan - although similar, it was never that red/orange colour.

A warm welcome to X Marks Tyneside Scottish. Do you have a better example? I'd like to see any pictures you might have.

Be interesting to see your interpretation of the Tyneside Scottish, maybe you ought to pm me and tell me all about your connection.
