    Hehehe. I'm getting a little confused as to which one is the "old" one and which one the "new" one.

    I think I prefer the darker one, myself. I think the lighter one is a bit too loud for me. But that's just me.

    I am sure whoever it is will be very pleased with their kilt, though!

    I'll have to see it finished before I pass judgment on which I like better, but I can tell you I'm extremely fond of the darker tartan so it's gonna take some real "wow" to change my mind.

    Last week-end there was a gent in a really light blue tartan, but I couldn't get away from the booth to go find out what it was.... It was new to me. (which granted, isn't saying much!)

    My aged memory recalls that we voted on some X Marks the Scot tartan variations and picked one.

    I like the original with the lighter colors. The darker one looked too much like blue jeans for my taste.

    I've seen the darker one in person. Here are pictures Turpin and H Hastings at the Illinois St. Andrew's Society Highland games in their XMarks kilts - one pleated to the stripe one to the sett. They look really nice in person. (The photos are in the 2nd post on the thread).
