So, cormacmacguardhe, you've demonstrated that facing a fear is often the end of the fear. Good on ye!

I just came inside from talking to my next door neighbor. He and his boss were accosted by 2 juveniles in the big city. His buddy was just about to get stabbed when jim came out of the house and was attacked by another guy. Other guy now has bloody nose and first guy took off running. Jim did not call the police. I hope I talked him into calling the police in the morning. I would be worried about these two bringing back help. Life has no value to some anymore. What a shame. But, Good job.

True, it doesn't to many. But seeing the responses on this thread gives hope that there are still PLENTY of good people left.

I was on a long train journey and there was 5 or 6yobs at the front of the carriage making a lot of noise .Man sitting behind me went to toilet as he returned he askedthem politely to make less noise as there were people trying to get some sleep as he came level with me one of the yobs came after him like a raging bull and grabbed him by the neck I stood up tapped the yob on the shoulder and said you go back to your seat sit down and shut up he turned round and went back to his seat there was complete silence for the rest of the journey , Ido not know if it was the kilt which scared him or my hight as I am far too old to be much of a threat

Jebus. Where were all you interfering people when I was mugged in Manchester?

Don't worry, I ended up ok, just short 50 quid.

There is something to be said, as mentioned, for the choice to not interfere if the violence hasn't been accomplished yet. Knowing your own capabilities is very key as well. Kicking the crap out of someone smaller than you because they're being violent with someone smaller than them is brutish and unnecessary.

All in all, the OP handled the situation very well, KUDOS. I love that you didn't go on the attack, just defended.
