If it matches too well, it takes away from the masculinity of the outfit. That looks fine.

If the guy in the mirror says it's ok, then wear it. Personally I'm not big on the "t-shirt under the polo shirt" look. It's like wearing two like shirt, one on top of the other. If, because it is white, you are portraing it as "underwear", (I do wear a "V" neck t-shirt under a dress or sport shirt. I also live in the south!); then, why would you want to show off your underwear?
Like I said, if you like it, then wear it. I just give you my opinion. Probably wont be shared by many. I think my age is showing.

I'll have to second this last part, but to me the polo shirt looks like, as someone else posted, your slip is showing. Probably my age too. The designer of the shirt was going for the layered look, which in my opinion can be both sharp or sloppy, depending upon how it is handled. I think he missed it by just [] much!

Looks very sharp!
And...I wear white undershirts under all my polos too. But to each his own

I often wear a polo with my kilt given the warm weather here in Texas. It looks better if you wear a polo that matches or coordinates with the colors in your kilt's tartan. I'd go with a brighter blue polo (with no undershirt) to match the blue in your tartan. Since you seem to be wearing a USMC Leatherneck tartan, a Marine red polo with an embroidered globe and anchor would look good. You could even go with a khaki short-sleeve shirt with epaulets.

Looks sharp to me and the white undershirt, for me at least, has military uniform resonances - so that fits well with the leatherneck tartan. Go for it and wear it with confidence.
best regards

Here's the most important thing about wearing that shirt with your kilt... Do you like it? Is it comfortable to you? Freedom in clothing IS what we are all about....
