Somewhat of a dress occsion. I had planned to wear my Black Watch kilt with black shirt and hose...any advice would be helpful.
Rifle green hose and tie, white shirt. Way too much black unless you're in mourning.

I hadn't even noticed that there was a black shirt and hose brought up; I was just thinking about where he could get a tie...
Oh well, hope all goes well. Good luck finding a tie.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

All advice is greatly appreciated. My wife loves to see me in a black shirt- that's why that choice. At this point in the tie search I may go ahead and wear the Mitchell kilt- I have nice ties for that.
As an aside- I did wear the Black Watch last night to a pub, with white shirt, green tie, waist coat and green hose- was perhaps a bit overdressed, but received very nice compliments.

Just my tuppence; I go with the above but with solid Royal Blue tie, white shirt, and dark blue Hose with black or Blackwatch flashes. The blue in the Blackwatch is quite subdued but shows through better with blue trimmings me thinks... You could try dark blue tie on a black shirt but I think it would be a bit 'heavy'.

Reason: Spelling correction (again) more haste, less speed as me ol' mum used to say

Nothing personal English Bloke it's just been a sore spot of Todd's for a while. I did not mean to jump on you my intent was to gently correct a common mistake.
