We still have a form of that over here, something you lot decided you didn't like in 1776...

It's not that we don't like it, it's all the trouble of filing the environmental impact reports and then the cost of restoring the rock to its original state that we dislike.

It's funny, even though I now live in a state with mail-in elections, I still like to get up early on Election Day and go in person, at least to hand in my ballot. Ancient Colquhoun and a navy polo shirt.

Of course I voted! It's the one time that I have the same power as the Hollywood jugheads. They can rant and rave, but in the end... our vote is just the same.
I DID notice that there was an Irish guy running named O'Bama?!

NOTE TO ALL
Let us refrain from jokes /comments about one candidate or another
This thread is about encouraging people to vote, and pleasant humor about voting in general is fine.
If it starts being about the candidates and /or parties this thread will be pulled.
We are proud of having a very diverse group of people here.
Respect must be shown to all

I can't vote here yet, but I value voting enough that I am registered to vote in the U.K. while absent and will vote here as soon as I am officially a U.S. citizen.
I'll echo Greg, GO VOTE!

The third official motto* of the City of Chicago:
Vote early, vote often.
I at least voted early.
...and we had what we refer to as "The Dreaded Judicial Retention Ballot" wherein all of the Cook County (Chicago's county) judges are put to a referendum as to whether they should continue to be judges or not. In the past there was a box you could check that said "retain all judges" but they did away with that (something about a legal challenge...I dunno...) and now you have to check each and every one of them by name. Brewboy will be happy to know that I voted to retain the Honorable Kathleen McGurie...my classmate in grammar school and the only judge in Cook County that will allow a kilt to be worn in her courtroom...you can go to court kilted now, Rob.

I voted about 8:45. NO line what-so-ever. Walked right in and did my thing. When you vote here (Charlotte, NC), they give you an "I voted" sticker. With that sticker you can get free stuff--free coffee at Starbucks, free donuts at Dunkin Donuts, free ice cream at Ben & Jerrys and free chicken filet sandwich at Chic Filet. Do they do that in other areas?

Most well run bars in this fair city will shoot ya' a free beer when you show your voting receipt. Sort of a time honored tradition going back to the day when Bathouse John Coughlin and Hinky-Dink Kenna used to trade a brewski for a vote...of course NOW WE KNOW THAT"S WRONG and it's purely a gesture rather than a transaction.
