<< You could get the Menzies red/white... >>
Yes, that as well as several other Menzies are fine-looking tartans.
But the MOB wanted that specific mauve tartan.
Probably because it'd compliment whatever unsightly dresses she & bride selected for the bridesmaids.
For that matter, perhaps she plans for the bridegroom & groomsmen to be in same tartan. Geez - that would be one visual train wreck.

Wow. The Menzies black/white is nice. I've never seen that mauve color however. I have to agree it is most unattractive.

Good call! For about two years now, I've prayed to win the lottery just so I could frivolously blow some money on a Hamilton/Coast Guard tartan to wear to Kansas games.

I'd say listen to the little hairs on the back of your neck. They stood up for a reason, and they seldom lie. The limbic mind senses things that the frontal lobes miss.

Of all the weird encounters you have told about, this takes the cake. I know what kilts cost, I know what a pipers going rate is. Was this MOB on crack

Was it one of these kilts?

It's subject to conjecture now.
A serious bride contacted me about 30 minutes ago. Same date & approximate time as MOB was contemplating.
This bride wasn't concerned about a specific tartan, only that I wear a kilt at her ceremony and perform as she specified.
Most importantly, she's paid the deposit to secure the date/time.
Experience & intuition tell me I'll won't hear from previous MOB again.
Slainte yall,
steve

Yup. Money talks.... Whoever pays their deposit first gets the contract.
Bet ya a jelly donut that you get a desperate call from the first MOB (eventually, once she realizes she can't get anyone to agree to her silly demands or everyone else is booked solid) begging you to come play, choice of tartan notwithstanding... Either that, or in desperation offer to pay for the kilt AND your fee...
