Way to go Howard Junior (or whatever his name). It seems like mass kilting in Iowa is going to take baby steps...your son just took a giant leap.
Trying to organize a kilt night here...have talked to some of the officers on my department about it and they are actually "thinking" about it. Ill let you know if something develops and maybe we can see you out here soon.

Howard,
Fantastic story (except for the trainers but he is 14 so you have time to work on him!)
Since he is leading the evaluation I would wear a different tartan kilt and let him standout in his family colors as his own man.
Pictures would be great!
Cheers

I don't know, wearing the same kilt as his "old man" may engender a nice feeling of solidarity with you Howard. Plus his schoolmates may be even MORE impressed if you are both seen in matching tartans.

Definitely a different tartan. Even though it is a royal idea, to stick together as a "Clan"...I believe the already existing pressures that he has worked through today would be alleviated some if his Dad "didn't match" his kilt. Might build up his individuality as a young man.
Cheers
