I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Really? Because that description sounds a lot like one of the deleted scenes from "We Were Soldiers". Only in WWS it was two MOH's around the guy's neck, and the point of the story was how scary the new Sgt Maj was. It's a fantastic scene - too bad it had to be cut, but it's on the DVD!
Maybe both movies have similar scenes like that...
(off he goes to rent Catch 22...)

They were identified as Cal Hi's in the link. Maybe they have the same or similar sporrans to AS&H's.
(off I go to google it...)

Yup, it looks like the Cal Hi's and the AS&H's have the same, or at least very similar sporrans.

Thanks for the link. I'm not too sure about the graphics that show the strategic (note the military term) placement of the sporran. However, on second thought I keep telling folks that one of the functions of the sporran is to preserve modesty.

Because the Argylls and the CH were affiliated regiments.

I'm with Cynthia. The picture was pretty funny, but the best part of that link was the other info included.
Don't know how I've missed it in the past.
