    You can always add a skull & crossbones pin to your sporran to give it that pirate flair. Just don't use too many pieces of flair.

    I would agree. However, I wear mine on the side- I have a pouch from Native Earth that attaches directly to my belt. I wear it on my right side, since I have a desk job and a regular sporran gets in the way. So I say- go for it! It's not a traditional Scottish sporran- but the thing to remember is that the kilt is not a costume. Wear what's practical. That's what I do.
