It look suprisingly good. I've been wary of the thrifty-kilt because it seems like it would look cheap. But it looks good.

I have a heavyweight. It feels like I could roll down a gravel pit in it and it'll still be fine.

Good on ya lad, keep kilting. I found a leather tool belt at sears dept. store in the hardware dept. that is three inches wide with a large double toothed buckle it looks great with the kilt and was only $18.00. You might try something like that.

    Kasey: "Hey you..."

    Me: *looks around the room*

Kasey: "Yeah, you...the weird IT guy in the dress"

Me: *walks over to her desk and says* "Why yes, I am the weird IT guy - but this is a kilt...not a dress"

    Kasey: "I know it's a kilt"

Kasey: *whispers* "So, what's in your crotch pouch?" (referring to the sporran of course)

Me: *looks her dead in the eye and whispers in my sarcastic voice as I slowly close my eyes* "The magic...."

We both laughed then went on about our day

    Good times!
Bwahahahaha... That's the best answer I've ever heard in my life! I'm going to use that.

Welcome to the kilted lifestyle, good sir!

Thanks all. I am actually hitting the mall (shudder) after work - there is a Sears amongst a bazillion other stores where I can look for a belt. The Sears options is good if I want a brown belt - but I don't feel like dyeing leather to get a black one.

As far as the Thrifty goes - it was pretty comfortable - although I have no other kilt to compare.

On Wednesday I will be receiving an AlphaKilt OD Argyll that I purchased off of Eric/Kilted Carver - So this will be a way for me to see how this style feels/looks on me.

Next month I am purchasing the Casual Kilt from USA Kilts - I was thinking about doing the Casual Kilt Package - it seems like a good deal and a nice way to start off getting some accessories as well.

Three inches below the knee is a bit draconian. Some folks have had good luck finding belts at places like Lowe's and Home Depot. I got a great web belt which I wear with my UK Workman.

I love my SWK Thrifty in Irish National. I bought it for St. Patrick's Day, and at $30 it's cheap enough that if someone should puke on it, I wouldn't care.

That's actually pretty impressive. I know I had to work up to wearing mine out in public the first time. You just jumped right in to the deep end. Good work, sir!

Thanks - but I have zero embarrassment factor. I could show up at work or walk out in public totally nude and I wouldn't care. I am by no means brash or crude - I just have no issues with fear of embarrassment.

Now my poor wife - she told me that if anyone says "Nice legs!" and they are not referring to her.....
