Quite a setting! And my apologies to Macmillan and Jock, but I'd not heard of Morgans before. I can see the appeal.

No need to apologize... Owners receive them as a gift from Her Majesty on their 21st birthday, so they are rather uncommon. Isn't that right, Jock?

Actually, Morgan only makes about 400 cars per year. Since 1968, on average, fewer than 10 cars per year have been imported into the United States due to constantly changing Federal regulations. In Ireland, where I was the Morgan agent for about twelve years, my allotment from the factory was a paltry four cars-- I considered it more of an annuity than a business!

As sports cars go (and Morgans really go fast!) they are the last of the traditional, hand built motorcars, employing a method of construction that hasn't changed in over 100 years. Sadly, the "traditional" Morgan, last of the real sports cars, will probably fade away in the next three to five years, a victim of EU side-impact legislation. Morgan will continue to build cars based on its current range of (very expensive) BMW-powered Aero-8 vehicles, with styling cues taken from the much-loved traditional cars.

I really enjoyed watching the athletes. We had a nice spot in the shade, next to a large tree, with a large bee hive located between the roots. Therefore not a lot of people were willing to sit there. The bees never bothered us!

What Alan neglects to mention is that he spent about 2 minutes wandering around carrying that caber upright before he turned it an almost perfect 12:00! He's hurting today, more so tomorrow. I'm not sure what he was thinking! Trying to impress the ladies, Alan?

It must have been a good ensemble

    Pretty flattering!

Of course, there was the one lady who requested that he move away from me for the picture, something about how the "rainbow umbrella" was "too much to have in the background".

I don't think she realized we were together!

Jamie, being the ham he is, simply smiled and moved to the side, while I privately giggled.

    Be well,

Super pics, Jamie, looks like a great day out at an interesting venue.

There were lots of Morgans around in the Scottish Borders when the Morgan Car Club held a centenary rally around here last month, Just to get you and MoR drooling here's a line up of some of the cars in the grounds of Thirlestane Castle on 7th June 2009.

Great location, good weather, and friends. A perfect recipe for the games.

Love the photos, it is nice when someone wants your photo at a Highland Games, at last years Fergus Highland Games I was asked for my photo a few times the best was when a couple of Japanese tourists told me I was the most Scottish person they had seen at the games and asked for photos, that one still brings a smile to me face.

Thanks for the Morgan photos as well.
