Top bloke!
My first time was at my dad's funeral, the reason for getting it as I promised him I would. Next up was a trip to Edinburgh, hardly a trial.
After that it was on a gay pride weekend with my wife in Newcastle upon Tyne - needless to say, I was popular with both sexes!
Some of us have it easy, so good on ya for steppin' out!

Sounds like a great day, good for you. I was kilted for years at my last place of employment. It started with a Heritage Night I showed up in a kilt with music, Haggis, Steak Pie and Shortbread. Soon after people were asking when I was wearing the kilt again. Don't be surprised if you get the same type of questions next week.

I work for a college, and have one part of my job (well everyone says its part of my job but isn't in the job description, contract, or advert) that involves dealing with the public. I tried to wear the kilt as a way of getting the administration to say "Get someone else to deal with the public instead of the guy in the skirt." Unfortunately, the kilt was a hit with the public, my department chair, and the dean. Now I get questions when I'm not wearing my kilt. Oh well, more kilting for me! I was told by a few of the other kilt owning faculty that they are going to try to wear their kilts more. I may have started a trend.
Keep kilting (and get pics!)
I wish I had something funny or profound to put in a signature.

Good fun. Glad it was a good experience.
I think the question about standing taller was a really good one. I find when I'm kilted I feel more confident and actually take greater care to stand and position myself more purposefully. This could be an interesting thread.

Congrats and keep it up. When I got my first kilt (birthday present) last year I wore it all July 4th weekend. I created a Scottish themed game for our department all hands and wore it to work. The center manager and HR were in attendance. I asked HR if there was an issue and they said "No". I wear them almost everyday to work now. Keep on kiltin

Congratulations on your accomplishment! Now it only gets more natural and less weird, until you go other places. Today I stopped for gas, went to Fastenal to buy some steel and pick up lunch, of course kilted. Many strange looks and grins, some snickering and whispering, but no mean comments. I have found that when kilted it is better to do manly things, like carrying 10' long pieces of steel unistrut, pumping gas and buying a burrito with HOT salsa. Don't know if I would go to a fabric store or order a latte.
