Works fine for me with Firefox 3.5.2, Safari 4.0.3. I prefer not to use IE.

Perhaps they have solved their problem.

Try going directly to their tartan page:

    http://www.martonmills.com/range/dept/6

    16 oz.: http://www.martonmills.com/range/6/list/51
    13 oz.: http://www.martonmills.com/range/6/list/50

I haven't had any trouble ever with their site.

And neither Firefox or Safari (same versions) are working for me.

Try clearing cookies. As mentioned above some browsers will cache sessions with links. Not usually a problem until a company changes urls or links.

In FF 3.5.2 go to Tools, Clear Recent History. If your FF doesn't have this step, then update to this version.

In IE 8 go to Tools, Internet Options, General Tab, Browsing History, Delete, Delete.

If you don't have the most recent versions as shown above, you really should update as website generally start writing code for newer versions of browsers as they come out.

The look-ups are all working from where I sit now. The original problem was translating www.martonmills.com into an IP address. It's roughly a 3 stage process, and the middle stage was broken somehow: look up the parent domain, get the address of the name servers for the domain, ask those servers for the address we're seeking.

Even though i could not perform the resolution in testing, my system had all of the addresses cached, so I never would have noticed. Somehow I suspect this may have been true for Steve and Barb. Do y'all go to tartan mill sites much?

Na, I don't go up on the Weavers' sites more than 3 or 4 times a day.

You see, I can't afford the swatch books from all the weavers I deal with. (some run $700.00 per book with 5 & 6 books per weight.)

So what I did was mount a flat screen TV on the wall in my shop.
When a customer comes in asking about a particular Tartan I go up on the Weavers Site and pull up the picture of the Tartan.
I set up the TV to be a clone of my monitor and the customer can stand in the shop and see their Tartan at eye level.

I do the same with the Scottish Tartans Authority. As I am a member, I can pull up the picture of all the Registered Tartans, along with the thread count and a brief history of the Tartan.
I find it really helpful when a customer has just a name or a vague idea of what Tartan they want.
It also gives the customer a really good idea how many Tartans there are, that some are very new, that there are many times more than one Tartan for a given name, and that there are versions of the same Tartan depending on which weaver does the Tartan.
It also gives the customer an authoritative idea of the availability of their Tartan.

So yea, I spend a lot of time on the weavers sites. They are all bookmarked on my computer.
I also spend a lot of time talking to the weavers on the phone. The only problem is the time zone difference. For me to call Marton Mills I usually have to do it at about 1:00am my time.

I havent been able to get on for over a week now!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

If you're using Internet Explorer try a windows update to the latest version.
