Rex,
Here's my two cents
The handsome gent pulls off the look
The boots, belt, and UK all work together
The only thing that doesn't quite do it for me is the striped shirt. It seems too conservative to go with above items.
Now make it a collarless shirt in a solid color and we have a complete look.

I completely disagree. He needs one of those old fashion leather, motercycle helmits, and those little round riding goggles in addition to a solid color T-shirt.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I like that look. I throw mil-spec boots on with a lot of my informal attire. And it looks exceptionally well with that black UK.
