No laquer. That stuff cracks, peels, scratches, and goofs up....might take a while, but it will never disappoint you. There are myriad reflections and shadows in the pictures. You are seeing higlights after buffing with white diamond, followed by red rouge.
The natural color of copper will return, rather quickly in a high sulpher environment such as coastal Florida or Louisiana. Slower in the Chesapeake, even slower in Washington state. Any color is easily taken off....just use a Sunshine cloth judiciously, or use any "polish" to return to the bright buff.
Copper is a very forgiving metal, and it is easly manipulated according to the wishes of the wearer. I perfer the natural chocolate brown to any other.
How heavy? Not very. Balance? You can take this thing into any task and love it.

That's very cool. I really appreciate using unusual materials for the grip.

Is the steel blade in contact with the copper? If so aren't you opening yourself up to galvanic corrosion? Usually copper and steel have to be insulated from each other such as in a house with rubber or pvc fittings. The contact of copper and steel creates a small current which causes the galvanic corrosion.

Nope. Steel contacts with brass only.
The matter of galvantic forces, and their abatement, is - of course- a subject of lifetime study. Suffice it to say that any electrical conductor will transmit such forces- metals and non-metals akin- and metals in their path are subject to consequental effects! Scenarios run from microseconds to millenia.
Anyhow, I think this knife will outlast me. It seems that 'corrosion' on the biological front is even more relentless, and unavoidable.

Once again a thing of beauty. It almost makes me want to wear shoes and hose, rather than my normal sandals, just so I could slip it into my hose.

Looks nice. Sounds like they're going to get some serious testing before they see the market.
