Maybe I chose my words wrong.. but in the Marines.. we pulled the fullness out of our shirts by folding the "excess" material with two "pleats" one on each side, off the back.. making the shirt sit flat in the back, we also used garters to attach to the shirt and they attached to our socks, but this would definately be inappropriate with a kilt..LOL... I still use this method with my shirts, to keep a neat and tidy appearance, if my shirts are not tailored.. We have always refered to this as blousing..in reference to tucking something in.. like the utilities we wore in the Marines.. our trousers required we wore shoes.. and not boots.

Thanks guys for all your advice.

Wild Rover if i wasnt wearing my kilt i would probaly be wearing either my black shirt of a slightly off white one with no collar, Jeans and trainers. I dont think trainers work well with a shirt when kilted for some reason i think the kilt just smartens it up too much for trainers so ill be wearing my my outfit above with a black shirt and my shoes (which ive just finished polishing)

It looks good to me as well!

Excellent revision . Glad it worked out. You're absolutely right about the trainers...oversight on my part...that would look weird, I was thinking boots, Docs, or ghillie brogues...

Not really an over site you did after all ask what i would be wearing if i had worn jeans, Your right i do find it difficult to wear trainers with my tartan kilts no problems when wearing my uk's or denim union kilt though
