One of the reasons I'm so hepped up about my new Carolina kilt is because it has a couple of Carolina blue stripes in it, and Matt is pleating it to show as much of the blue as possible. I really like greens, but usually I wear bright colors to school, because, for some reason, I think the students like to see them.

I wear colors that women tell me look good- navy blue, mostly- and red or pink to match my eyes. I'll be wearing green, because Paul sent me a great green Argyle jacket.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife

MacLowlife's got it down.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Well, I've had the privilege of having Matt design a tartan for my family name, so here are the reasons for the colors I prefer to wear:
The brown and green represent the ties the Sacketts have to the land. For over four hundred years the Sacketts have been landowners, farmers, pioneers in some cases, but always associated with green fields and forests and dark brown soil. The black and grey are the colors of the Sackett coat of arms, but the black also symbolizes how serious and dedicated we can be at times - the family motto is "Either do not attempt, or complete," with the unstated "You are going to complete this." The gray could and may have various interpretations, depending on whom I'm talking to; I won't bore you with them (unless you're really interested).

A Menzies Dress kilt will look cool and will probably elicit quite a lot of favorable comments.
I'd like to suggest that a full-mask badger sporran would look great with that, but it saddens me to expect that some of the locals around here would probably be upset by it. You might have a much better estimate of the likelihood of that than I do, though. I'd also hate to run afoul of local Dept. of Natural Resources officials, even if I were wearing (European) Meles meles and not (local, protected) Taxidea taxus.

Oh, I got a whole No.1 Piper's Uniform in mind. Ostrich-feather bonnet with tall red hackle, red piper's doublet, Menzies Dress piper's plaid, aforementioned tartan kilt, regimental Badger sporran (the one with the 5 tassles), and red and white diced hose. Of course my pipe bag will have to be red with a big W on the side.
I dream of piping during halftime for the Badgers...or just playing for free cheese curds while tailgating. Either one.

And if you get a fly plaid it can always double as a nice picnic tablecloth.
(Sorry, beloit, but could not pass the opportunity by. I am only kidding---I am actually former faculty at UW and still wear my Badger attire proudly, now two jobs later.)
