Had the coonskin hat as a child. It always equaled Fess Parker to us. As wee lass and lad, my sister and I had the habit of leaving our Davy Crocket hats almost anywhere in the house. Mother would aleays be grabbing them by the tail to return them to our toy box until we got a Maine Coon cat with a matching tail..... The rest is family history.

My image of authentic manhood is somehow bound up with visions of a man with a rifle and a coonskin hat; a terse and knowledgeable answer and a slow smile.

I am the less for his passing

I'm old enough that I always thought of him as Davy Croket masquerading as Daniel Boone.

I think it a fine thing to go to your grave both well remembered and regreted. My memories are all good.

    Wine

Actually was able to enjoy a glass of his wine with him at Disney a few years ago. He was TALL smiling and having a great life. Charming fellow.

Sorry to here it. For me, he was Davey Crockett. I can still remember him biting that lead rifle ball.
