Be warned, to even glimpse at the horrors you will share in our insanity. It can never be cured.
Be careful what you ask for...

I you don't do delayed gratification well, you can find HPL's complete works (free!) online, here:
http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/
For purposes of this thread and tartan, however, what you want first is The Call of Cthulhu:
http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary...lofcthulhu.htm
If you decide to take the fateful step of reading it, I hope you'll enjoy it; and whether you do enjoy it or not, I hope the blasted remnants of your soul may someday find some semblance of repose.
Even though I know they won't.

I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."

H.P. Lovecraft has inspired many modern authors horror like Brian Lumley (one of my favorites) who have continued his tales. My wife bought me this book a couple years ago -

Hmmm... Well, maybe we can combine names... (AND have a range of tartans) Just like we have "Ancient" and "Modern" and "Hunting" and "Muted" and so on, we can have:
Miskatonic University R'lyeh
Miskatonic University Insane
Miskatonic University Insane Hunting
Okay. Now I'm just being silly.
BONUS: What a completely INSANE tartan might look like:
