Wasn't there some stuff about them having passed off some other tanks as the Tigers in Kelly's Heroes and being caught by observant armoured vehicle fans?

Sorry, Yes the City of Detroit is indeed located south of 8 Mile rd; however The Motor City is not a border defined geographic area. The two areas often get used the same but they do not mean the same thing. There are some, but not many, manufacturing plants in the City. Most are located in SE Michigan east of Lansing (big GM area) along the I96/696 corridore and south from Flint, another GM stronghold. Warren is definitely a part of that, but Sterling Height is too and that is where the Headquarters are. Production is actually in Lima, Ohio just down I75. The areas in the suburbs around the City are tightly tied to the automobile industry in one way or another. They are all part of The Motor City. Don't take this the wrong way, but if your not from here you would't understand. Sorry if I come off sounding wrong, but I just wanted to clarify my assumed error.

Everyone is proud to be from The Motor City, but not as much pride is felt in the City of Detroit.

Sorry for the thread jack..... I will crawl back under my chair

And Big Mikey suggested (for Rabbi Pazo’s garment): The MUCKLE TANK!

    Very apt.

Interesting mis-spelling that. The word is pronounced with a TS sound, although in German it is spelt with a Z. But in Dutch and Afrikaans it is written as pantser.
But panzer/pantser simply means armour, not specifically “tank”.
What actually comes to mind is a sign that used to be seen on the Cape Flats, a sandy area on the eastern side of Cape Town, which read: “Pantserkruising/Tank crossing”.
The original (Afrikaans) wording was entirely correct, since the road that crossed the main road at that point was used by military armoured vehicles.
But whoever translated it got the wrong end of the stick, because the South African Army did not keep tanks in that area. The place was an armoured car training ground.
There was no risk of the tar surface of the main road being chewed up by crawler tracks.
Back in 1942, my father was an armoured car driving instructor. But that is another story.
    Regards,
    Mike
I misspelled on purpose so that the pun was clear to those who don't pronounce Panzer as the Germans.

Ah...I thought that I remembered some kind of strangeness:

"The three Tiger I Tanks used in the film were actually ex-Soviet Army T-34 tanks, converted in great detail by specialists of the Yugoslav army for the 1969 movie The Battle of Neretva."

    ...that was it...
