I agree! The tartan and the hose look very smart together!

    Well done, Kenneth!

Just a note for those who might be interested about House of Cheviot hose. They actually have two very similar, but distinct, shades of light blue.

The one that is called "ancient blue" is made from a yarn which is a uniform shade of light bloue throughout.

Then there is a shade called "blue mix" which is made from a blended yarn. The main color is that same shade of light blue in the ancient blue hose, but there are small amounts of other colors blended in, such as greens, greys, etc., giving the hose a marled appearance. This shade better fits the description of lovat blue.

To my eye the blue mix (lovat blue) lends itself more to daywear functions, whereas the uniform ancient blue shade lends itself better to evening wear.

    Your mileage may vary.

Re: serenade to lovat blue kilt hose

I went through my kilted pictures to find one or two to post in this thread...and I'm shocked to find that I have NO (zero, zilch, zip) photos of me wearing lovat blue kilt hose. I'm absolutely stupefied by this because it is my favorite color of kilt hose (the only color that I have two pair of)...yet for some reason, I've never had my picture taken while wearing them. I need to remedy that, ASAP!!

Quite right, Matt, thank you for clarifying.

Here is a close-up. They definitely lean more towards the blue hue than green.

I agree that Lovat blue seems to go with anything. It's not blue, it's not green - it's somewhere in between! (Hey, I'm a poet and didn't know it!)

And since "ancient blue" seems to be making appearances here too, these are my super-chunky hand-knit hose in a very bright blue colour:

I have worn Lovat blue and Navy kilt hose with this Holyrood tartan kilt. This one being one of my favorite combinations.
