I just started with kilts and have made 2 so far and I'm waiting not so patiently for delivery of MacNeil Ancient tartan to make another one. The real addiction is to the comfort.

I was speaking to a guy in a pub last weekend and was talking to him about wearing kilts and the "Why" of the whole issue.
I hate to admit it, but we were both in trousers at the time, and came to the conclusion that we like the attention, but I have since questioned that line of thought. If I do wear a kilt for attention, then why do I do chores and maintenance on the house and field work in a kilt?
Man, sometimes I annoy myself...

P.S. I am posting my heart out trying for the "Kilted Member" title.

Secret ingredient (shhhh)
I am taking my life in my hands by telling you this.
The secret ingredient in kilts, the ingredient that is woven into the very fabric, no matter what fabric, the secret ingredient that is so irresistable that you desire more, that makes women so attracted to a man in a kilt, is this:
It's the love.

I find myself checking the boards 20-30 times a day some days. I even got a chat room going, not very busy ATM but hoping I will get there soon.

This is me exactly. I don't know why because a year gone December I never gave a kilt a second thought. Now I do all the things you describe.
BTW I keep visiting the chat room but there is rarely anyone at home. I'll keep at it though as I met a new guy on there the other day. A bit of a lurker on Toms. I've got him looking over here so hopefully he will join our ranks soon.
Shawn (Jolt), if you're reading this.....hello again and welcome.

I have always fought paying more that $100.00 for a suit coat, pants or even the whole thing. I won't bat an eye at paying more than that for a kilt. I also enjoy making my camo kilts and finding new patterns to use or coming up with new variations and trying them out by making the kilt from scratch.
My wife is starting to complain because I have an 'experimental' pile of kilts and I'm using her section of the closet to store them. Total kilt count is around 18 (all mixes) and there's nothing like sitting down after a hard week and working for 10 hours (or more) to produce a kilt.
My wife calls it therapy...I guess it is and it's cheaper than psychoanalysis!
Is it an obsession, passion or addiction? Or all 3...don't know, don't care!
I liken it to being on a bike and cruising down the road with nothing but sign post going by...I just enjoy the ride.

That's OK the single comes out when we have a few good friends over in kilts. I'll leave a dram out for you, and of course will have one on May 1st on the virtual global Hamish pub crawl.
When I was doing Opera in Ottawa the props person would invite select members of the crew for a tasting party. About 30 different single malts to try. We would only test a few at a time. It was a popular spot.
Cheers Graham (It's too early here at the moment to have a sip...and to be honest I may have one, once a month)

I had a chat with this guy too(jolt), helluva nice chap.
that's the other thing I like about wearing and being "into" kilts. meeting some great people on here and other places, and meeting people in real life, people that I would not normally talk to, come over to me and start chatting, great ice-breaker

I don't think I'd go so far as to say that I'm "passionate" about wearing a kilt. I wear one for a few reasons, mainly comfort, non-conformity, and, yes I admit it, attention (especially from females). I wish I could claim some family heritage with a kilt, but my ancestry kinda prevents that. Now that I'm up to 9 kilts, which I try to wear regularly, I think my word choice would simply be "comfortable."
