It is absolutely one of the finest tartans that I have ever laid eyes upon. I am, admittedly, very biased here. The weathered/reproduction colours are absolutely stunning.
Thank you for adding these, Kyle. Literally two minutes ago I was looking at those very same images on Scotweb's site after reading your post about your MacPherson Reproduction. Stellar, sir.

Cheers, Bren! Aye, the reproduction/weathered colour scheme in the Robertson tartan is absolutely gorgeous. If I wasn't such a staunch Macpherson, you better believe I'd have a kilt done up in this particular tartan! I think it would look quite lovely pleated to the white line as well.
Kindest regards,

Well, I don't blame you, mate, for being so staunch. My kin left Scotland several generations ago, whereas yours left within living memory (if I recall correctly from your posts in the past).
I hadn't considered pleating to the white line! Good eye, sir. Good eye.

I put great store in facial likenesses in proving shared genealogy. There is a certain Robertson 'look' and this was shared by the Irish jockey Willie Robinson. Others who share this 'look' are another ex jockey Tony Dobin (a Robertson sept name) the event rider Iain Stark (a Robertson sept name) and a friend of mine called Alan Collier (another sept name).
The Kilt is my delight !

I see the Robertson tartan on my excursions to the folk festival in Sidmouth at the beginning of August each year.
The Exeter pipes and drums wear it as their band tartan - and very handsome they look too.

That it is, Anne, that it is!
My preference is for the Hunting tartan rather than the red tartan.

As a side note I have confirmed that it is, in fact, only Robertson (and no other variation) in my maternal family tree.

I have a kilt in the weathered version of the Hunting tartan:
I also have a breachen faile in Red Robertson that I've rarely worn but can really make a show in when I do (very old photo):
Then there's the Hunting version that is my first and likely favorite kilt (another old photo):
You can see that there are lots of great options from which to choose in the Donnachaidh clan. Not to mention the fine folks who are members.
Very nice, Jim. If you don't mind me asking, which weaver wove your Robertson Hunting Modern? I like the deep, dark scheme.

I got it from House of Edgar about 15 or 20 years ago. Yes, I, too, like the deep colors. I don't care for lighter shades personally.

One of my close friends / adopted sisters is a proud daughter of Clan Donnachaidh. Her maiden name is Robertson, and she grew up hearing about her family's Highland heritage.
