Annual Clan Macpherson Gathering and Rally

    Greetings,

Below you will find various photos from this year's annual Clan Macpherson Gathering and Rally in Newtonmore, Laggan, and Kingussie, Inverness-shire, Scotland. As well as several photos of a clan luncheon at Newton Castle in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. Newton Castle is the home of our Chief, Sir William Alan Macpherson of Cluny and Blairgowrie, TD. Unfortunately, my bonnie bride and I were unable to attend the gathering and rally this year; however, we shall indeed be in attendance August of 2015. According to reports from my fellow Macpherson cousins (particularly from Duncan Macpherson); this year's gathering, like gatherings in the past, was a great success with much fun and revelry had by all. Of course for us Macphersons, the first weekend in August is a special time for us to come together from all parts of the world and gather in the place from whence we all came, Badenoch. We rejoice in each other's fellowship and esprit de corps. It's always wonderful reuniting with old friends, as well as greeting new faces. We are quite the blessed lot and to be honest, we wouldn't have it any other way.

    Creag Dhubh Clann Chatain!

Kyle.... great pictures. I can see why you want to attend next year! Fine examples of TCHD or THCD as well.

Wish I was able to attend, looks like a smashing time! I guess there's always next year.

    Cheers,

Thanks Kyle, lovely pics. I wonder how old is Cluny these days; he's looking a bit frail?

You posted some Macpherson portraits that I have also seen in Canada at the Macpherson house, so believe they are most likely the Macphersons who fought on the Loyalist side in the American Revolution, as many chiefs from Clan Chattan did willingly (or were they compelled?) The obvious exception, not a Chief, is General McIntosh from Georgia.

Cluny is as staunch as ever! Still leading from the front. He is 88 and has Parkinson's, hence the occasional use of walker/walking sticks.

there are some fine photos here. While not exactly a "one kilt - ten looks" series of photos, there are certainly some excellent examples (at least to my eye) of some fine highland dress. Many thanks for posting.
