I wear a SWK "nightstalker" nylon sporran with my 5.11 TDK's. It's kind of redundant given all of the pockets but I like to at least make a nod to the tradition and frankly I prefer the look. I made a strap for mine from a narrow piece of nylon webbing and two small clips that attached right to the "D" rings on the TDK.

Yup, love my night stalker with a contemporary style kilt. As someone else said, it gives a nod to the traditional, but in a modern fashion.

Well I finally got it. It is amazingly light and comfortable. I will probably get another in a darker colour, that doesn't show when you've had chocolate.

Camo (multicam) works really well for disguising this as well. Probably why I wear my MC 5.11 TDK more than the other 2 that I have.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm not impressed with the 5.11 kilt. I've owned Utilikilts since 2007 and they just feel like they are put together in a more robust way. In contrast, the 5.11 feels flimsy and thin and I feel like the pockets are harder to get into.
I ordered mine on their second annual run of kilts. Wear it occasionally, especially in warm weather, but generally stick to my Workmans or Survival models from Utilikits, which have more pockets and seem to fit me better.
Sometimes it's all about the *feel* of the garment, you know?

Yes but look at the price difference. I'd rather buy a 5 yard traditional, which suits the climate, as does the 5.11 than a Utilikilt. Besides its only for indoor use and dog walking.

Yah, I'll agree with you on all points there. The more I wear tartan kilts, the less I find myself in the Utilikilts... Though sometimes those pockets do come in handy ;-)

Actually I'm not that keen on the big floppy pockets.

When your kilt has no pockets, time is ripe to be wearing a Cabela's Safari Shirt, either the lighter, less expensive dressier one or heavier, more outdoorsy one.
The former has two, buttoned breast pockets. The latter has those plus zippered ones behind them and one on the left arm.
Net result with the heavier one; better, more pockets than a pair of chinos.
Original thread query response: BIG personal thumbs up for the 5:11 TDK.

That Cabela's shirt sounds like my cup o' tea. Will have to check it out. Thanks!
