Freelander, I am a bit thick, after asking you about piccies I just noticed the ones you have on your gallery!!

I've placed an order, and from henceforth and for evermore I will refer to this sporran as my "freelander sporran".

As I wear it I will think of the Free-dom that kilts give to those who wear them in the Land that God has been good enough to place me in.

The leather working hobby shops have some good tanning kits, that will do a hide either with hair on, or bare leather. I think the hair on would look nice.
Yes the Patern is from the "Thompson book" "So you are going to wear the kilt." with a few mods of our own. But the basic Idea is there. I'm also concidering a dress sporran at the mo'.

Keep us posted on how's it's going with your project.

    Good luck

    Another pic. of THAT Sporran.

Here is a slightly better view of my new "Freelander Sporran Mark I". I have been wearing it all day again today ..... and felt pretty good about it too!

The brown straps I have are not quite the right shade, so I'll be keeping my eyes open - or visiting my nearest saddlers emporium.

Thanks Hamish, I actually like the strap, it gives a sort of two tone look.

I told Freelander I was not so keen on the deer antler on the lid, nothing to do with being against hunting or anything (which I am not opposed to), just the look - for me.

David said he can modify that for Tasmanian audiences. (maybe a kangaroo head?....only kidding)

Good to see a better view of it.

Blast!!!....You dont want The Kangaroo head.....What should I tell the local zoo now. I'll do it in Platapuss maybe. I'll leave the sting in. The bill will make an exellent lid closure

Ps :Hamish are you putting the belt through the loops or using the "D" ring hanger ?
    All the Best.....David.

You know you're addicted badly when you look at exotic animals in terms of use as a sporran.

I kinda like face sporrans. Unfortanately wearing one in the US would probably get you beat up by animal rights activists.

I know that feeling. The place where I buy leather has Zebra and antilop. There's a woman I know of that uses fish skin to make vests....Just goes to show.....Now what about a fishing sporran that is made of Pike skin 8)

    PS good hunting JA..
