Looks good to me, Terry.
I too was going to ask about the dates and events you have in mind for next August, because some of us travelling from afar will soon need to start making enquiries about accommodation and flights, etc. I also want to plan a couple of days in Seattle with my Utilikilts' pals whilst I'm so close.
Oh, by the way: Dave W. (who toured the USA last year with me) would like to consider coming over to Vancouver. He's still working for a living (!) but will need to schedule the holidays from his office well in advance, if he does decide to come.
We both will need to do a bit of budgetting before signing on any dotted lines!
If you are planning two weeks of events, I/we may not be able to stay that long - was thinking of a week to ten days in total - but I wouldn't want to miss anything, so could be flexible!!

Two weeks? Ham, we yanks get precious little holiday time typically compared to what I've heard about European workers. Having two weeks paid vacation is usually considered a good thing, and you're in like Flynn if you've got more than that to spend. Personally I'd be happy for just a few days, a long weekend maybe, so that I can also get out for a couple of other trips next year.

Hi Magnus,
When I wrote of "two weeks" it was purely as a result of Bear's statement:
"We're planning for the first two weeks in August with a Kilts Night on August 6th. Maybe another on the 13th."
I have to admit that I was wondering if some grand Celtic Festival, lasting two weeks, is being planned around the 6th August 'Kilts Night', when I read what Bear had to say.
Of course, I am retired so I get 365 days paid holiday in an average year(!!!) - OK, so I've paid for it all my working life - but, I believe the norm, under European law nowadays, for those still in employment, is something like 21 working days per year. I could be well out of touch though!

Our week long Celtic festival is actually in March Hamish. I think by saying 2 weeks, that Bear is still trying to nail down some specific dates. Too bad we couldn't do it in March for the festival that centers St. Patrick's day.

Vancouver August 2005
Here's a pub I'd like to have an evening at with you guys.
It's called The Irish Heather.
http://www.irishheather.com/ih_main.html
You can't see the setting of the pub but it is in Gastown, which is the oldest part of the city. A few steps out the door of the pub is a statue of Gassy Jack. The statue stands where there used to be a tree. Under that tree the city name was decided.
The street is cobblestones and bricks. The pub is part of Gaolers Mews. The back of the pub was a stable.
Across the road is a first rate tobacconist/pipe shop.
Gastown is almost like looking at Vancouver a hundred years ago.
Also in Gastown is the building that was Duncan MacLeod's dojo in the TV series, Highlander. I'd love to get that space for the Bear Kilts shop!

I'll have to get REAL lucky with the actual dates on this, as we're touring Scotland in August!
You know that I would walk there just to have one Vancouver Kilt Night under my belt!

Oooh that is enough advanced notice that I am awfully tempted to come see your city for a few days and meet a few more forum members.

As long as I can afford the trip, I plan to fly out for that event. My vacation is the first 2 weeks of July, so the kilt night will be a quick fly in and home deal.

Jimmy,
We're planning for the first two weeks in August with a Kilts Night on August 6th. Maybe another on the 13th.
