Yes, I do a little finger combing before I use the comb sometimes, too. I've gotten to where I can gently detangle any knots fairly quickly, as well, when I come across any. I wore my hair down this past weekend to the Irish festival in Dallas, and it was VERY windy. I had a little trouble trying to get my poor hair detangled, but considering everything it went through, it wasn't so bad. Still, I don't particularly want to do that again anytime soon! Heheheh.
If something seems to be working for your hair, I say stick with it I think the main things I learned that helped the most were how to actually detangle hair properly and be more gentle with it. I definitely understand needing to be careful with the septic system.
It sounds like you've already got a pretty good system working for you at the moment. How long are you wanting to grow your hair? For me (and for many people) average growth seems to be about half an inch a month/6 inches in a year. I don't really get any trims, and instead do something called dusting where I take hair scissors and cut any damage or split ends off a single hair. That way, I can keep any damage under control without losing length. I'm sure at some point I might get my hemline evened up a little (or if I decide to maintain at a certain length), but I'd like to find a longhair salon. I don't trust anyone else and most people rip through hair or don't know how to handle hair this long. My husband is too terrified to trim my hair for me and I am too chicken to attempt the self-trimming methods that are available.

Um... I plan on just not getting any more hair cuts. It can grow as long as it wants to grow. Combing is a big deal to me and I am very careful. I don't use a comb until my hair is dry too. My hair does well about not getting split ends, but If I find one, I remove the very end. If there is something wrong with a hair in the middle, like a knot, I remove the entire hair. Being careful makes a huge difference, and I have almost never had a problem. Right now the front isn't quite long enough to reach around to a ponytail tie, but I look forward to when it does. That will help a lot with keeping it put without a hat.

Woh! I was out there looking at the index, and I noticed that there are thirty-two members on line, but only twenty guests. Usually it's more like a hundred guests and twenty to thirty members... And it seems like earlier in the day, I saw that there were twelve guests and about ten or so members. It must be a slow day on the guest side... Even just after midnight here when there are five or six members on line, there is a large number of guests. It's kind of moving slow on that index listing of new posts too.
I did see some posts talking about how X-Marks logs you out if you take too long to write your post. Guess it's not just my connection problems. That was a heuge, hair pulling, stress when I was first starting to post. It still takes several editings to get something posted. Like this post.

Ya, there is something odd going on out there in the forum. All day, there have been extra low numbers of users on the forum. It's that there has been fewer guests than members for quite a while... I usually look at the numbers when I am at the index, and there are usually about a hundred guests, but I don't think it's been over thirty-five all day. I've been out working most of the time, but I'll pop in and take a look from time to time. I've just never seen the guest numbers this low...

Has there been a sudden surge in the number of new members? maybe the number of guests is low becuse the lurkers have finally decided to come out of the shadows.

There have been new members from last month, but there was the regular number of members on line yesterday. It was the guest numbers that were very low... And something must have been going on yesterday because I looked at the numbers on the way to this thread. There are 309 guests and a normal thirty or so members. Over three-hundred guests are watching us muddle through the forum... Like I said, there's usually about a hundred or so guests. I don't know what was going on yesterday. Very weird.
I Went and checked again, and there are over three-hundred guests, and about thirty-two or so members on line. I don't think it has anything to do with the forum changes Mike1 anounced. Although, there was a criptic mention of another change that I didn't quite figure out. I don't know what's going on! I'm scared! It must be the monkey people from the future! And the Hairless aliens!!
Here's a quote from the end of Mike1's post in forum nues.
"There is another, pretty major change that has also been made today (have you discovered it yet?? ), but I'll let Highlandtide fill you in on the details
for that one."
Yipes! We're all going to get it now!

Ok, here's the numbers I grabbed on the way in.
Online Users: 305
29 members and 276 guests
They're down a tiny bit, but that's still higher than I've ever seen on the guest numbers. It's normal for the members... Keep in mind that this is after that weird lul where there was only between twenty and thirty guests at a time yesterday... It means something, but I don't know what it would be. I still don't know what Mike1 was talking about in that quote I put in the last post.

What just happened, The guests had dropped down to 219, then I went back and looked and it was 38 guests... Something is going on here, and it's very weird.
BTW, this is a hair salon now and we are supposed to gosip.
Snip snip snip, spray spray, snip snip.

Well the numbers are still off a bit, but oh well.
I removed a picture I posted in the Dressy kilt pictures thread. I couldn't look to see what everyone else was or wasn't wearing, so I goofed a little.

I'm not sure what else I could do. Although, I can try to be more careful in the future.
I did just notice there is a photo gallery now though. Don't know if that is new, and that is what Mike1 was talking about or if it's always been there...
I looked it over and I think that's what all the hubbub was about. Well, maybe I can upload my pictures now. I still don't have a photobucket because of that sighn up visual thing you have to go through...

Well it's still weird on the numbers out there.
Online Users: 48
32 members and 16 guests
Snip snip.
But now we all know what the hubbub was all about. We'll see how the photo gallery does.
Spray spray, snip.
I've felt drained of energy all day. I know it's my allergies... On that picture I removed from the dressy picture thread, they locked that forum down right after that, so I'm glad I removed it.
Snip snip snip...
Hold on a second,
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz click
