Happy Tartan Day!

A few kilted gents from Xmarks met at a brew pub in Harvard Sq. in (The Peoples Republic of Cambridge.)
Was a great opportunity to meet a few of the kilted locals..we drank a few pints, and discussed much about the kilted world.
It was a first Boston kilt night. "On tartan day, none the less." We plan on many more.
X marks has provided such a great connection to kilted men everywhere...

Need to start working on the next boston kilt night! June isn't too far off!

Tartan Day was good. Didn't spend the whole day kilted as I had an appt w/ my chiropractor at lunch and since I didn't want one of his rather acrobatic adjustments with my kilt flying I waited until afterwards to chagne. Got a few surprised looks but mostly questions and quite a bit of interest in Tartan Day and Arbroath. All in all a very nice way to spend the afternoon and evening. Not to mention in the DC area it's Tartan Week .

Perhaps saturday will I'll get to attend National Tartan Day Celebration of Music

That could be a nice way to spend a rainy kilted Saturday afternoon.

I wore my MacDonald of the Isle Hunting yesterday. Staff noted it looked good with teh dress shirt.
My last appointment was a builder who brought his son in law in to make sure they didn't miss anything. For the 1 hour interview Damion sounded just like any other central Kentucky contractor, untill I stood up and he saw the kilt. Then his Irish brogue showed up. Seems he has only been her 15 years, the accent slips I guess.

I've got a very similar problem to your contractor...been here in the south 12 years, but the minute I start talking to anyone from the north-east, I sound like I've just come off the train from Boston. Always good at parties.

same here. I used to do (& wanna get back into) voice-over work and theatre stuff and have a good ear for accents. problem is that as soon as i start to talk or even overhear with someone with a strong accent (especially a brit or similar) i start to pick up thier accent & bounce it back to them. Drives my friends nuts as they can never be quite sure which of my many personalities they are speaking with!

if you can, picture a big bald black guy with a very proper british accent - kinda startling, eh? but has gotten me out of more than a few traffic tickets

"Oh my Gowd that is wicked Funny." I have lived in Boston most of my life but spent a few years in the south . when i get below the Mason Dixon I start using Yawls and such. I get a hankerin for Hush puppies and Biscuts and gravy too.
Im off, ga-ta take the caa to the baa to drink some beeas with the boys......
