Oh,yes!
I'd be more than happy to see kilts become popular. Maybe then we'll get less " Hoots mon/are you Scottish/what's underneath/where's yer bagpipes/etc." comments from the Great Unwashed
Perhaps also Mrs Barry would be seen out with me at other than a "do".
I also echo Ham's sentiment - there are lots of blokes out there who would love to wear a kilt but aren't doing so because of societal pressures.

I would be happy to see kilts/cilts becoming more mainstream
When something is good it's a shame to see it restricted to the few!

If the kilt (cilt) is worn well and with confidence it will go mainstream. I think thpugh it will become a wardrobe choice alongside the tr***ers except for the happy few.
Mainstream? I don't mind I embrace it!

At present, most people assume that there must be a specific reason for a man to wear a kilt. Its popularization may diminish that expectation.
... I also feel so sorry for all those poor unfortunates out there who are still suffering trouser tyranny....
all (or most) of which is self inflicted.

Since this thread started I have given the matter some serious thought, and this is what I have come up with:
If kilts become ordinary menswear how does anyone lose? (Aside form those who only wear them because they are "different").
And, if kilts become a fact of daily life for many men, that can only serve to improve the gene pool because those little swimmers are most healthy at several degrees less than trouser temperatures allow.
And, The laid back factor is bound to increase because the innate tensions (unbeknownest to most men) caused by forced social conformity will be to some extent at least relieved.
And, since we pretend in the U.S. to equality between the sexes we might actually approach that impossible goal at least a little more closely.
There exists a multitude of other arguments in favor of kilts ( traditional and varients ) being a matter of ho, hum, so what? But I will hold fast here for now. What sayest thou, brother?

I hope I didn't miss an answer here and this was already mentioned, but if you haven't read UK's last newsletter, it states that they are planning to show their Utilikilts at the big fashion show in Los Vegas early next year. We'll see what talk there is about that and what happens after.
DALE.
You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

I'd have to say I'll keep wearing my kilt how I please whether it ever becomes fashionable or not.

Okay.....I wasn't going to reply to this one but it sounded like you wanted as many opinions as possible.
For me, I am all about the Trouser Tyranny thing. I want men to have the freedom to wear something different than trousers. Now I hate trousers with a passion. They are stifling, confining.....I feel like I'm suffocating when I'm wearing them.
So.....I want kilts to become accepted as an option for men in all situations - even at work. I guess I that would be my goal and I see that as a good thing.
Would it be good if they were commonplace? I'm not even going to comment on that because I don't think it will ever happen. Can you imagine for instance an executive in a board meeting wearing a kilt?
On another web site a kilt visionary predicted a day when you could go to Wal-Mart and purchase Utilikilts off the rack in the men's department. I don't think that day will ever arrive because in the 21st century men have no backbone, no guts. They want to blend into the background by dressing like all the women around them in blue jeans. Unfortunately, I think this will be the trend for at least the next several decades - and perhaps forever.
