Most bands will teach you for free if you agree to play with them for a couple of years, and whislt many instrumenst can cost upwards of £10.00 per hour to learn jioning a band is a great way to learn perhaps even get a free kilt on loan!

I don't particularly want to march in a band. I just want to play for my own enjoyment.
The place here that gives lessons says that for $90 a month you get:
-half hour private lesson on a weekly basis and a one hour group lesson on a monthly basis. They will start you out with reading music (which I need) to performing. I have no idea of how long this process would take.
What do you pipers think of this deal?
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

Thanks Haukehaien. I will be much better able to listen intelligently to the pipes just for that small bit of knowledge.

Which you can't do with great Highland pipes; the chanter sounds continuously throughout the tune. Instead we use a wide variety of embellishments, from the simple G gracenote to the crunluath a mach.

Love the pipes, but I'm too old to start and too musically illiterate to play, I'll stick to my drums.

Same here, and I'm entirely too busy earning enough money to pay for MadBagpiper's pipes, lessons, traveling to games and performances, popcorn hose.....yikes, I better get back to work!
