I just ordered a Thrifty Kilt to take camping next weekend in Hunting McLeod. Nice to think about walking to the stream for a quick bath, towel off and moving on. Thanks Steve!

Thrifty Kilt arrived just now (Thurs)- ordered Monday. Fits just fine. Admittedly lighter weight, but great for summer wear, No belt loops, straps, buckles etc. just velcro closure.
With a Belt & Sporran & nice shirt, will look just fine for casual, even semi formal wear. But suggest a real heavy Kilt Pin on a windy day.
Hey, for $24. 95 you can't go wrong!
Good idea Jerry!

I didn't think the material was heavy at all. From the picture, it looks like the kilt was made with 4 yard or less material. But at that price, I won't complain.

How is the velcro set up? Is it continuous across the aprons, or in two places?
Best!

I just noticed SWK's standard (acrylic) kilt is now available in saffron. That's new isn't it? Formerly only the heavyweight (wool) kilt was available in saffron.

OK these guys at Stillwater's did it to me again. I went to their site and got thinking " How much would it cost to lowball a kilt outfit here" one for going to the highland games in in a casual mode and hanging out. Well Blackwatch thrifty, belt, $15 sporran, flashes and hoses came to a whopping total of $81.90. You won't pass as the best dressed man in the crowd but I don't think that you'll look like you're a member of the Clan Mac Tablecloth. As I had ordered from them before checkout was a breeze. I added a couple of more set of flashes for the other kilts I've bought from them and hit the "BUY" button. They just make it so easy. I'll have a lot of reviewing and picture takeing to do when I get back in the USA. I'll keep everyone posted.

I saw those Thrifty-Kilts when I was shopping around for a kilt for paintballing (Yes, I'm soon to be one of those wacky people who run around in the woods with a kilt trying not to get shot ). At first, I was a bit reluctant to get a kilt that cheap, especially when you consider how expensive most are, but then I figured that, hey, for that much you can't go wrong, and I'd feel HORRIBLE about trashing a nice kilt in the woods.
So, I'm ordering one soon. This'll be my first bought kilt, although I've worn kilts before, and shall report on it when it arrives.

I am sure this won't be the last!
Sounds like an excuse for a kilt night. I'm a little north of B'ham. We should try to work something out.

SWK Thrifty Kilt
I ordered one of the SWK thrifty kilts as a wear around, and it arrived today. It fits, unlike my "fredonline321" 36" Pride of Scotland which is real nice and is made for a 34" waist, and the Thrifty was 1/2 the cost of the fredonline321.
It is pleated to the stripe and very well done, no jiggly lines from waist down anywhere. It has no liner and the pleats are not sewed down to the fell, but this would be expected. The only negative point would be for a prospective buyer to be aware that it is supposed to be a medium and from 34" to 38" but it is best at 36" because to first pleat to the right (when wearing the kilt)creates a space if the waist were larger than 36".
For the price, it is a real nice kilt. Well done SWK.
Gordon
P.S.: Now I am waiting for my FCK (Frugal Corner Kilts) Clark and I will be able to accustom the local crackers to my kilt wearing because both are what they expect a kilt to look like, then I will be able to wear my brown corduroy and denim kilts (both DIY's)
