No, I'm not going there!
I do like the way the trad kilt being worn high on the waist looks. That's the way I like my casual kilts, like the canvas ones, too.

The only way to wear a kilt!

Ya, it just seems to work that way.
It's fine if someone else wants to wear it low, but I like the way it divides the body in a higher place... I'll have to think about why that is.
One problem I have is that I am 36" with a 37" at the widest on my bum, so pants just fall off me un less I wear them above my pelvis bones and a little tight or a tight belt. I wear my kilts a tiny bit snug, but not uncomfortably, and right under my ribs. In other words, I squeeze a little bit of a waist. The kilts just seem to stay on a lot better, especially when I'm gardening. It's very agrovating to have to pull up your pants all the time while you're working.

Have you tried a custom fitted kilt?

Not yet. I probably will have one made sometime this year when I figure out what I want.
The ones I have fit pretty well, but I'm sure a custom one would do better around the back side and all.

I guess the question would be if you wore your kilt without a belt, would if fall off?
If so, then you might consider a custom fitted kilt, even an inch between the waist and hips can make a difference and hold the kilt up without a belt.

Oh no, I'm sorry, that isn't at all what I ment. The kilts do not fall off or anything like that. They stay in place just fine, and a lot of times, I don't wear a belt with my kilts. There's no problem there at all.
It's the "PANTS" that fall off if I don't wear a belt. That's one of the reasons I like wearing a kilt, it doesn't fall off. Also, it is a lot easier to do most of my gardening work in a kilt because it stays put without a belt digging into me.

My SWK kilts and the BK canvas fit pretty well. I got to say, a lot better than pants.
I was thinking about why the high-waist looks better on the kilt to me. It seems to divide the body into three parts that are balanced in length or something like that. The low waist throws that off.
I'm guessing that the kilt at a high waist makes a person look taller in some cases... Still not too sure what is going on, so I'll keep thinking about it.
It's definitely thorax related...

I just got a new kilt pin that Moosedog sent to me. It's a zebra, and that happens to be a special animal totem to me.
I guess that I do the zebra strut, instead of the rooster strut. Zebra feathers...
