Both my visits to Pipers Cove have (happily) taken longer I thought they were going to. With weekend train schedules, and knowing how convivial John and Joan are (the owners) and how excited they're going to be when confronted with all of us, I think 2:30 at Harrison PATH would allow us ample time with them and would justify the trek. Any later and the pub crawl might not start until 8...

And this shall be for music, when no one else is near; The fine song for singing, the rare song to hear; That only I remember, that only you admire; Of the broad road that stretches and the roadside fire. (RL Stevenson)

Keith, your best bet is to snag a spot at a parking garage. There's one on River Street that I use and it's about 3 1/2 to 4 blocks from Scotland Yard. It's reasonably priced and easy to get to. If you are coming from the Holland Tunnel, make your first possible right- that's Marin Blvd. Take that all the way out until it ends, make a right onto Observer Highway. Take Observer Highway one block past past Washington Ave. Make a quick left and then a quick right, now you're on River. Follow that down and it's on your right hand side.
You could always take your chances street parking, just be diligent about feeding the meter you shouldn't have a problem. Hey,you might get lucky and find a spot, I always did but that was when I went there on weeknights.

I tend to agree with the safari analogy. I'm interested in both the visit to Piper's Cove as well as a pub crawl but maybe we have two events here. Maybe a Pub Crawl one day and a visit to Piper's Cove and lunch on another date (not necessarily in that order)? Together it seems lie a very long day.

Chef,
The Path train is probably your best bet into Hoboken from NYC and vice versa. Hoboken station is literally a block away from Scotland Yard (sorta at a diagonal from the entrance of the station- can't miss it). The Path train from 33rd Street to Hoboken Station: $1.50 each way. It's probably best to take the LIRR into Penn Station and then walk over to the 33rd street Path stop and take that into Hoboken.[/QUOTE]

Brother Chef,
I am glad I am not the only one to think this would be a Long day that should be split into TWO events, that would be a logical choice.
As I recall the HOBOKEN Pub Crawl at Scotland Yard was postponed due to the Noreast storm.
Also so soon after the Christmas Holidays, I would think it might be easier on the sporran, for those of use expecting a Tax Refund if the shopping trip was scheduled closer to tax relief season March/ April?
Finally for those that have been itching for a real Pub crawl, Saturday, FEB 16 is perfect, since many of us will have Monday, Feb 18 < Presidents day> off to recuperate!
Guys can we actually POLL
All those who want to take advantage of the LONG weekend to recoup after a long over due Pub crawl in HOBOKEN? And we can schedule the shopping trip with enough advance notice to budget and or use our Tax refunds for a shopping trip March/ April?

What time is the pub crawl going to start. I have to take my son to a birthday party in the early part of the day. Whats a long weekend, I have to be at work at 5:00 am on sunday. I can try to make it if the pub starts early.

Good points BlkWater, the original Hoboken Pub Crawl was cancelled due to weather.
I toss my hat in for the pub crawl (and Piper's Cove at a later date); I'm flexible as to what time we start.

HoBoken NJ Sat, Feb 16, 6pm Scotland Yard Pub crawl!
Ok Brothers, are you ready for our first Lads only Night out
take no English Prisoners Pub Crawl?
HoBoken is only one mile square, so our "Kilt Walk" will be a Kilt march!!!
This is some serious rabble rousing, helleyon raising :buttkick:, up kilting :butt:, pint tossing, int:, pub crawl kicking,
so the lasses will be home tending the hearth and home.
There will be Bar games, Drinking songs, dirty jokes and naughty story telling.
Sat, Feb 16, 6pm Scotland Yard Hoboken.
"Get yer kilt, strap your sporran on tight, this is a real PUB Crawl." "7 steps to get in, But 12 steps to get out!"
Steps away (across the street and up the block) from the NJ/NY Path train < if you take the Path from 33rd, 23rd, 14, 9 or Christopher Street stations in NYC, to HOBoken, NJ only ONE (7 minutes) stop away from Manhattan!
And "YES" the Path Trains run 24 hrs 7 days a week.
