Ah, but the phermones!!! They are the ones that determine the fit!

There's a thought! My wife's biggest concern is that I'll get women flirting with me (cause, hey, it's a man and a half that wear kilts!) and that I may reciprocate. I won't and she knows that deep inside, but it still in her mind that it may happen.
My kilt is a part of my heritage and as such, she full well understands (heck, she's Irish, so go figure!).

there IS a middle way. It's called compromise.
I don't wear a kilt when we go out to dinner or her birthday. I often don't wear kilts when we go to dance concerts. (Dance is her thing, not mine). If an evenings activity is really more about "her" than it is about me, it's not gonna kill me to put on a pair of pants, and I know she is just a little bit more comfortable with me in pants than in a kilt.
But if I'm going to work all day and she's not even going to SEE me, what's the logic in her telling me not to wear a kilt, as long as it's OK in my workplace?
....makes no sense to me.
BTW, I bought her an absolutely lovely Dress Blue Stewart Kilt skirt last year. It's stunning. She hates it....refuses to wear it; says it's "dowdy". She refuses to wear an XMarks tartan sash to Burns Night. Do I rag on her about these things? No. It's HER choice whether to wear them or not.

'Fraid wearing my kilt to work is out...the MacQuarrie tartan clashes with my Sheriff's Office khaki shirt. Lieutenant might test the taser on me, too...

The key then is to be the sensitive caveman. I think most folks I know would say I tend toward being a knuckle dragger but my wife knows there is a bit of a soft spot down deep. After 23 years we still support what each other wants to do. She does still mention that she would like me in some tight pants, even though I never wore tight pants, but she does like the kilt. Hopefully your wife will come around.

Hello Gents!
This is my first post on X-Marks the Scot and I'm glad to be counted among such an intelligent and eclectic group.
My wife fully accepts me wearing my kilt--around the house. However, whoa be unto me should I dare to venture out in it! I don't get it. I love the quote: "The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do." She found this quote to be solid reasoning but still refuses to be seen in public with me in my kilt. I have a Utilikilt original in Olive, bought it back in the summer. Love it, love the freedom, wish I'd bought one sooner. The thing is, she can't quite pinpoint what she fears about ME wearing a kilt and being with HER. She just continues to say "I'm not ready to do that yet"
Hope to see replys from you soon, lads!

It seems I'm one of the few who's spouse loves seeing me in a kilt. She's excited and seemingly less patient than I waiting a few weeks for my new USAkilts semi-trad which I ordered just yesterday. I'm truly a lucky fella!
