I may try it with my Graham of Manteith kilt as Matt has suggested, and Jamie, now?
I thought I always dressed at least as well, if not nicer

    Glen,

My only consolation is that I my sartorial splendor still outshines Grant's like the blazing sun before a dim candle, and my neatly trimmed beard has proven more than a match for Grant's golden mane of curly locks.

It is a small comfort to be sure, but it is comfort nonetheless.

    Cheers

Who invented the canard of diced hose having to "match" the kilt? I think the hose look splendid in the photos, no problem whatsoever.

FWIW, officers of the RHR ( Black Watch ) did not wear red and white diced hose; rather they wore red and black .

    kind regards,

It's funny how we're debating whether or not the red/white diced hose "go" with the Black Watch tartan , or any other. That was never a consideration. The government adopted that pattern of hose for use by the Highland regiments back in the 18th C. because they could purchase acres of the simple-sett fabric for dirt cheap!

Anyways, Glen, I think they look fine with that or any other "darkish" kilt....

Glen, I think the hose look fine. I think we'd have more in agreement if the pix were brighter. I'm going to continue to think about the tartan flashes: perhaps the suggestion for red ones is a good idea.

Altogether, you're gonna look like a million bucks---make that hard-currency bucks, not the ones we're using now.

For my part, I've gotten hold of some marled yarn & I'm going to try some diced hose in two shades of blue. Let's see whether I can pull that off with the Ezdell USA Kilt.

I agree with some of the others. If red were a dominant color in the kilt yeh hose might work better. But, all in all, a really great look.
