The flaw in my logic may be that "TANK" only needs to represent one kilt type while some other shorthand term would need to stand for a range of modern kilt styles.

My thoughts exactly.

Still, for a basic, durable, cargo hauling, workhorse of a kilt, I'd say Jeep is pretty good (I'd actually compare it more to a pick-up truck, but none of those sound as nice)

I don't think we should call it a willie. Imagine all of the aweful "willie" puns that go along with a kilt. (think of the adjectives we use to describe a good kilt)
