I would attend such an event. Largely just to meet the people I have bought from, or want to in the future. The trouble would be getting all I wanted to see from that well rounded of an agenda. I still haven't got a good enough grip on string theory to do the "two places at once" bit that should be possible in a multidimensional universe.
I dunno how many kilts I am really going to make, though. In the end it was less expensive to just buy them, for me.

That's what I did for the Kilt Kamp in Franklin. I just went down for the Friday seminars and to meet the people.

I will probably never make my own kilt. While I have the technical ability, I just don't have the patience. I make my kilts by contacting the kiltmaker and giving them my measurements.

String theory, tartan, sewing. Hahaha. I love a good thread with quantum physics jokes!

Wow Steve that really sounds like it would be a great class/convention session. Might be something to aim for in the future. "Dream big or stay home."

The Big Gig sounds wonderful, but til then, my vote is for ABQ, cause Barb will go there, AND it's driving distance for me (a long drive, albeit).

ABQ would be within driving distance for me, as well. Although I'd probably fly anyway. Western Kansas/OK-TX Panhandle is just too boring to contemplate (although Southern Utah is much, much more boring than anything else I've ever driven).

What!?!?
If you are in San Francisco, there's no need to get anywhere close to the "Western Kansas/OK-TX Panhandle". For you the quickest route is south to Barstow and then across Arizona straight into Albuquerque - about 1000 mile one way.
I beg to differ (strenuously) about your assertion that Southern Utah is boring. It is far from boring. Southern Utah is spectacular country.
Thinking positively, in the hopes that there will be a 2k9 kilt kamp (yeah I know too many ks), my vote is for Albuquerque.

I couldn't agree more. If I had friends coming from overseas and I could take them anywhere at all in the US, I would take them to southern Utah. What could be more fab than Arches National Park or Canyonlands or Monument Valley??!? But maybe that's the geologist in me talking....
