To me, it looks like a BW variant, but I am not completely sure.

If I recall correctly, there is a photo out there of a Scandinavian heavy athletics competitor at a Highland Games somewhere competing in a grey fleece kilt.

I find fleece too hot and non absorbing even for daywear.
Personally I find a full length kimono with male variant sleeves - that is fairly narrow ones not the huge long 'Madam Butterfly' sort - very comfortable to sleep in.

I made a cloak lined with fleece- turned out beautifully but I broke 3 needles trying to stitch through the pleats (gathering the neck was impossible- too bulky) I can't imagine trying to sew a whole kilt full of pleats in fleece!

Well I finished the kilt and well..... Lets just say I am not going to post pictures. Do NOT make a kilt out of fleece! Very hard to control and it twists and bunches. This only when I am alone. I don't even plan on answering the door with this thing on. I have a whole new appreciation for the kilt makers out there. WOW!

Well the material does matter very much. I had some ideas of making winter kilt out of mohair, but it falls in same category as fleece - unusable for kilts!
Don't be disappointed. Give a try to new one in different material (wool/PV mixture is fine).

Just a thought, but one option I have tried was a sarong. It's used predominately in Indonesia and India. It's a long tube that is wrapped then tucked, then folded down. I have made one (very simple, one seam to sew, no hems) and it's very comfortable to sleep in.

My wife made a PJ kilt for me, mainly to wear to the bathroom and such when visiting parents, friends, etc since I too am a believer in the "why put on clothes to go to bed?" school. But I also enjoy wearing it about the house, much like I used to wear PJ pants. She did sew down the pleats so they would keep, and she has told me (a number of times) that getting the tartan to line up and stay there (due to the fleece/flannel fabric)was a bugger, but it wears well for what I want, though I wouldn't try to go outside in it, as the lightest breeze and, well, there you are...

Fleece seems to be the wrong material for anything but a comfy pullover or blankey. You might think of a re-do with a light flannel like boxers are made from. If comfortable enough, you might find it nice to wear while adding your comments to XMTS. Good luck and at least you had/have the courage to try.
