I have sold two kilt related items on the For Sale section of this site. Both sent money to me without really knowing me at all. All they new was that I was a member of this site and, as one state, "that was enough for me." It is so amazing to me the kind of trust we have with one another here. I think it is a special thing that exists. The only other thing I could compare it to is the trust I have within my own family. It is an awesome thing!
I was wondering if anyone else felt this same way.

I definity agree and had been thinking the same thing but you put it into words better than I could have.

Hope to meet you all soon.

I agree, there is something truly unique and wonderful here, I've been on other forums and have not felt the same sense of family that is here.
I'm glad I found it, and hopefully someday I'll have the chance to meet up with some of you!

I would say that X-Marks and the peeps here are a part of an extended family for me. I would never consider putting pics of my kids on just any website (that goes for Myspace or any other site), yet I have displayed pics of both my kiddo's (and the dog) on here numerous times like a proud father showing wallet pics to the "kin folk". If that isn't family, then I don't know what is....

I'd like to second your point, Andy... I feel exactly the same way about images of my family but wouldn't hesitate to put pics of them on this site. That says a lot about the level of comfort and respect we find here.

At present, there are three groups that feel like "family" to me: Xmarksthescot, the Renaissance re-enactment guild I belong to and The Highland Warriors Kingdom of the Gaels (a guild we play with most often at Ren faires). It is not unheard of for members of St. Gyles Guild of Royal Lancers (my guild) or Highland Warriors to open their homes to other members. I suspect the same is true of the members of XMTS.
I can't think of a better "family" to belong to than XMTS.

Ditto.
I can't explain why, but there is certainly a "trust" and sense of camraderie here that I have never seen in other forums. Long live XMarks!

Yup, I agree with everything above. Never met a kilt wearer I didn't like.
Cheers!

I sensed the camaraderie from the start. When I got my first kilt, I went kilted for the first time to my dad's memorial service. A few weeks later I wore it to a Highland Festival. The more I wore it the more I wanted to wear it. I had no idea that there were alot of other people that thought that way as well. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found this site. Went to a couple of Kilt Nights, met some great people and I always made sure my wife was included, it has made her more at ease when I am out kilted. X-MARKS is a special place indeed!:ootd:

There are very few places I feel "safe" 1) was on the Maori marae with my fellow "cossie's" 2) At a ren faire in garb with fellow rennies. 3) Here with the other kilted people.
The closest I can call it is the whanu, family, clan .... you may not be blood but you might as well be.
It doesn't matter that I'm a girl. I can ask questions and not feel foolish about it. I want to make my rogue look good. Who else would I ask these questions to? just my 2 pence.
