Please tell me this is a joke. I know we in Scotland have our stereotypes of American tastes in dress but surely no-one would seriously consider wearing this. Would they?

Well, I can't speak for my American friends, but in France, only a lassie (a young one…) would wear such a garment.
Mind you , with a pair of jeans and “3 grams in each arm” (very drunk !)...

I've been wondering if it would be possible to piece together all that fabric I removed from the inside of the fell area on my kilt, and make a waistcoat. Maybe it doesn't matter.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Lady Krystal and Scotus have great looking 'vests'. Mr. newsomes are also very nice. I have a preference for a liner back though. Much more comfortable under a jacket for sure.
I have a more difficult time deciding on a coat that looks good than the vest. I am of slim build and don't like coats much but realize that they are very approapriate for most dress occasions.

I could have a chance at winning the "best dressed scarecrow" competition at the local show, with one of those!

I never said it would go well with any tartan kilt.
I said it would go equally well with any tartan kilt.
Which is to say...
...not at all!

Cheers

that patchwork tartan waistcoat has been discussed before....
I think maybe one could make it work with everything else in the outfit being black.
black hose, black shadow tartan kilt, black shirt...and all black leathers.
