Very fine kilt, and great job on the waistcoat too. And I have to say that the wee future Marine looks absolutely smashing. Semper Fi!!

I am a U.S. Marine NCO, but I'm afraid I do not own a kilt in the 'Leatherneck' tartan, nor will I ever. I love the tartan don't get me wrong, it is a very handsome sett, but I'm afraid I only wear the tartan(s) of the Clan Macpherson or the Clan Chattan sett - simply my personal preference.

Everyone looks rather smart, keep it up!

Agreed. May I ask who made the waistcoat?

    Re: Leatherneck Kilts Pics Album

Thanks to all, OoRah and Semper Fidelis to all the Marines.
My Children love wearing their Kilts, and also their Cammies. When I'm deployed they enjoy going to "The Marine Store" (recruiting Station) to parade around in their Cammies and harass the poolees. The Recruiters have kind of adopted them as mascots. The older three all claim they want to be Marines, but it's still a bit early for that to stick.

As I have not done enough Family history research and am not sure what lines I come from, (because I DO want Tartans that represent my heritage first, and then I'll invest in the visually pleasing ones) I chose to get the Leatherneck first since I plan to learn various pieces that apply militarily on Bagpipes, and would then play Kilted at Balls, Mess Nights, Memorials, Funerals or other events.

My Kilt, Waistcoat, and Fly were all meticulously and expertly crafted by the lovely Lady Chrystel. I plan to be ordering from her again.

Kyle, you are the second Marine I've been acquainted with who was a 'double deuce". The first was a quiet gentleman who served over 30 years prior to you. (He was in the last recruit cycle to qualify with the M-1 Garand ). He has since passed from this plain, but his influence is still felt.

Wonderful! Thank you for sharing your story of the 'hard charger' with me - it sounds like he was quite the man, and I am sure he most definitely was. There is something to be said about possessing a 'quiet' confidence and a humble spirit, as I am sure the Marine in which you speak of, was a fierce warrior and fought as hard as any other combat Marine.

Us younger Marines have always looked to the 'Old Corps' and the Marines from that era, for guidance, tutelage, and advice. You always listened when an old, crusty Master Guns or Sergeant Major talked about how the Corps was in 'the old days.'

    Semper Fi,
