I too go with black trunks (like boxer briefs with shorter legs) if I wear anything at all and it's usually dependent on the wind if outside, how much and on what I am liable to be sitting.

If you want to go commando and still protect your kilt you can transform the boxer underwear into a boxer skirt(it is very easy). so now the sweat will go into that fabric, it gives you extra protection and you are still free. Unless you get half slips ( I have seen a site that do sell some for men)
