Thank you!
I just picked up a bottle of Ardbeg 10, and it's incredible. A sweet bouquet and a smokey, peaty flavour. I'd heard about this from another source as well, so was already going to try it, but then you recommended it as well. A fine whisky.
Andrew.
Your Very welcome Andrew

I let my roommate try a sip. She doesn't know anything about whisky, and doesn't drink much in general.... So I poured her a small dram and handed her the glass. She tilted it back and chugged it - and then gagged and coughed for five minutes. I belatedly told her, "You slam cheap vodka; you sip a fine Scotch." Well at least now she won't swipe my whisky.
Andrew.

Once you have had a Fine Single Malt, you never
go back.

I only keep a blend around for cooking and for guests who have not earned the opportunity to sample good single malt 8)

give the blends a break guys...
when you're in the mood for a little something on the rocks, a touch of famous grouse more than fits the bill!

Finally, a voice in the wilderness!
I agree, heck I would love to spend $80 AUD on a bottle of really fine single malt, but on average a bottle lasts me about a week.
$80 a week is a well out of order!
I love Teachers or famous grouse, teachers is as good as the last single malt I tried for taste, and I'm only spending $28 AUD
Having said that, I'm planning a bottle of talisker as New Year present to myself

Oh joy! Santa was very good to me,
1 bottle Glenmorangie 10-year
1 bottle Glenfiddich 12-year
1 bottle The Glenlivet 12-year
1 bottle Tomatin 12-year
I may be a little dyslexic for a while

A lawyer friend helped me close on my house last week. In lieu of payment he want a fine bottle of Scotch. Knowing his fees are usually $750.00 US dollars I said no problem.
He wants a Macallan 25 year old...One distributer told me "good luck getting it" another said he'd try to get it... for $300.00! WOW.
Must be very GOOD stuff.
