Jeff,
thanks for having the courage to post your message.
Adam,
I appreciate your comments about the earrings. It relates to me. Even though I have both ears pierced (was at 0 gauge at one time), I haven't worn them with a kilt. For me, the fear was appearing to be cross-dressing. But after your post, maybe I will actually "have b*lls" and wear them anyhow.

This conversation always comes back to "b*lls." Yet the conversation always comes back.
Maybe there's something else going on. Whatever it is, don't expect to have an honest and thorough discussion about it on any of the major kilt lists.
Been there, done that, have the t-shirt.

i hadn't thought about it until the "earring" post, but I first got mine pierced at the "which ear means you're gay?" stage of things. As you can imagine, in Knoxville, TN (coupled with the fact that I, too, am somewhat of a clotheshorse) it caused a bit of a stir. I get similar questions now when I'm out in my kilt, but rarely does it have to do with sexual orientation. Maybe that's a NY thing. I think very few people here pay any attention to who you sleep with.
Just interesting how the situation has come around in my life again (being "cutting edge" in some way - pretty hard to do here!). By the way, for most of my ties, I prefer the half-Windsor and almost never use the four-in-hand anymore.
