The photo is real, Nick. There were articles about the man's gaff in the British papers.

This is definitely one issue where we will have to respect differing opinions & needs.

Those in the U.K. may not realize that Americans popularized St. Pat's Day to the point that the Irish had to start making something of it, 'cause tourists wanted an "Irish" celebration. (Forget that it falls during Lent!) The "Kiss me, I'm Irish" & "I'm not Irish, but kiss me anyway" t-shirts & buttons have been around for a long time. St. Pat's Day = levity on this side of The Pond.

For the record, my lads refuse to wear funny underwear for anything.

The photo is sort of real. Debate still ranges as to which is the actual photo.

Checked with a couple of guys I knew in the Regiments. The photo showing "all", or in his case, not so much , is the real photo.

    "regimental" continued...

    From Baynes & Laffin's Soldiers of Scotland, p. 1112:

Sgt. Thomas Campbell of the 79th (Camerons), along with a piper from the 42nd (RHR) and a private from the 92nd (Gordons) were sent for a audience with the Emperor of Russia in Paris in 1815 during the allied occupation. The emperor, after examining the equipment & dress of the Highland solder, then asked "the usual question of what was worn under the kilt. Campbell then explained how the Emperor satisfed his curiosity:

"Second, he examined my hose, gaiters and legs and pinched my skin, thinking I wore something under my kilt (emphasis mine), and had the curiosity to lift my kilt to the navel, so he might not be decieved."

More to follow...I'm off to St. Louis tomorrow, so it will have to keep until next week.

    Cheers,

    Todd

Note to self, do not wear kilt to Russia ...
The SP boxers have the queens face on them as well as the union jack but I'll not go into further detail.

Considering that most of us bulk when asked what we're wearing "under there". Isn't this a non issue? What a person wears or doesn't wear is up to them isn't it? My two cents any way.

Hey, if someone asks what you're wearing "under there" why not respond with "under where?" and see if they get it!

If you don't let people tell you to wear trousers, why would you let someone tell you what to wear or not to wear under your kilt? It's nobody's business but your own.
