I gotta say I don't think he looks that good, especially considering that I don't think he had the excuse of a small budget to worry about. The kilt's too long, the jacket and waistcoat aren't fitted to him, the hose are too thin and he doesn't know how to tie the laces on his gillies. The sporrans a bit low, too, as other people mentioned. I'm pretty sure it's rental stuff and he's never worn any of it before. Most people do the best they can with what they have, but I have to think that someone dating the wealthiest woman in Britain (with the possible exception of the Queen) really doesn't have an excuse. Take a close look at Sean Connery to see how to dress when you can afford quality materials and tailoring.

I think the kilt only looks to long because of the wind. The side of the kilt looks like it falls at perfect height above the knee. As for the jacket, it may be a loaner, but it seems to fit alright. It may also be off the rack stuff or he may have lost weight recently. For all we know this may be his first time in a kilt and PC. Granted with your wife being that rich, go to Geoffery Tailors and have the whole outfit made to measure. The sporran does look like it is hung too low, but as someone else mentioned, given his date, maybe that was for a reason ;-)

Sean Connery usually looks good in his highland wear, but what is the deal with the tartan ties he seems to love?

Even Sir Sean has been known to do something goofy on occassion. I saw a picture of him once with half of the flash showing on each side of his leg! Photographers seem to have the knack of catching you at the precise moment you look the goofiest, just like waiters who ask how you like the food just after you shove a forkful in your face. I'd like to focus on the positve lest someone find a picture of me and start pointing out all my kilt faux pas.

Boy this is a tough crowd. It did look windy, and I liked the tartan. I'd give him credit for wearing a kilt but his wife has more money than God.
